Golden Pond Assisted Living, an independent lifestyle and assisted living community, has named Katy Tavares as its new executive director.

Tavares brings more than 18 years of experience to her post where she oversees the day-to-day operations of the community. Golden Pond is located at 50 West Main Street in Hopkinton.

“Golden Pond Assisted Living has an experienced staff that’s as passionate as I am about helping residents maintain an active, engaged lifestyle,” Tavares said. “This community has an excellent track record in bringing the art of living well to seniors, and I’m very pleased to have this opportunity to be part of this positive experience for our residents and associates.”

Previously, Tavares served as the executive director of Woodbridge Assisted Living in Peabody, and as executive director of Landmark Senior Living in Beverly. She has also served as a private consultant in the industry with a diverse client roster including BaneCare, Marriott (now Sunrise) Senior Services, and Volunteers of America. She began her work in the field at Mystic Valley Elder Services in Malden as a geriatric case manager.

“Golden Pond is unique in that we provide a continuum of care that is simply not found anywhere else in the surrounding area,” Tavares said. “As Golden Pond prepares to open its new independent lifestyle apartments, it’s an exciting time to join the community.”

Tavares has her master’s degree in sociology and a graduate certification in gerontology. She is a trained support group facilitator and dementia educator of the “Care for People with Alzheimer’s’ Disease” course through the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts.
