Dear Hopkins' Students, Families, and Community Members,

It is with great excitement and enthusiasm I write to you as the Hopkins School Principal. The opportunity to work for and with all of you is a great responsibility, and I am committed to the continued growth and success of Hopkins School and its students.
Although we're only a few weeks into Summer Vacation, there is a lot of work ongoing at Hopkins School. For example:
We have several staff positions to fill, including a new Assistant Principal. Over the next few weeks, I will be working with teachers at Hopkins School to fill those roles with highly qualified educators. Our prospective candidates will need to meet our high expectations for educators and be a good fit with our school culture and values.

We are in the middle of planning for the 2014-2015 school year. While much work was done in the spring, finalizing class placements, firming up event dates and details, and planning the professional learning time for our educators is ongoing.
Mrs. Piquard, Hopkins' Administrative Assistant, is coordinating all the ordering and deliveries of materials and supplies. In addition, she's working on all the communication that happens over the summer with students and families about class placement and teacher assignments.
Mr. Flannery, our Head Custodian, and his team are very busy preparing the building and classrooms. We have several teachers switching classrooms and teaming assignments, necessitating relocation of equipment, materials, and supplies. Additionally, Mr. Flannery is completing the typical cleaning and maintenance that takes place over the summer.

Over the next few weeks, I will communicate with you open dates and times to meet with me if you'd like, as well as visit Hopkins School. This is a fantastic school with a dedicated and hard-working professional staff, committed to the success and well-being of each student. I look forward to the opportunities and challenges ahead!
Respectfully,

Tim Kearnan
Principal, Hopkins Elementary School
