ESL’s Wizard of Oz January 14, 15, and 16

Enter Stage Left Theater will be presenting The Wizard of Oz on January 14 at 7:00 p.m.; January 15 at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m.; and on January 16 at 2:00 p.m. All performances will be at the Hopkinton Middle School. This family classic, which is directed by Mary Scarlata-Rowe, will be performed by a cast of 115 children ranging in age from 4th to 8th grade. Tickets are $12 ($10 for children 12 and under) and will be available at the door or at

No School, Trash & Recycling collection, or Senior Center Activities in the Town of Hopkinton for Wednesday, January 12, 2011 due to the expected snow storm. Town Hall, and the Library will be closed ALL DAY January 12.

All trash and recycling collections for the remainder of this week will be delayed by one day.

Tools of Modern Warfare at the Veteran's Breakfast

Hopkinton's veterans had an opportunity to learn about the tools available to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan during a presentation by Dick Lewis, a Senior Engineer with Qinetic, a defense contractor. Lewis explained that while warfare hasn't changed, today's troops face more threats from guerilla warfare tactics and attacks from insurgents. His company produces the tools used by the "kids that have their boots in the sand" to help deal with these threats.

Robotics at the Library Tomorrow

The Hopkinton Public Library is collaborating with the Robotics Club at the High School to present a special program at the library on Tuesday, January 11th at 2:30PM. At students' request, the staff at the library has invited Dan Higgins, a game programmer to present the program on the actual programming/coding.

Give Back on MLK Day - January 17th

The Martin Luther King Day of Giving Back starts at 9AM at the Hopkinton Middle School on Monday, January 17th. Stop by for breakfast, listen to speaker Sarah Varadian, participate in a service project and give back to your community.

Sponsored by the Hopkinton Youth Commission, the MLK Day of Giving Back offers an opportunity for middle and high school students, their families and adults in the community to join together and participate in a variety of service projects.

Joseph A. Niedzialkoski, 86

Joseph A. Niedzialkoski, 86, of Hopkinton, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Milford Regional Medical Center. Born in Sterling, MA., he was the son of the late Frank and Czeslawa (Bronislawski) Niedzialkoski. Joseph was the last survivor of his 7 siblings. He was the husband of the late Mary Niedzialkoski who passed in 2002.

School Committee Press Release on New Elementary School at Fruit Street

For the past ten years, the School Committee has been discussing with the community the need to renovate and expand Center School to improve the quality of education for Hopkinton’s students. The age and condition of the present facility compromise learning. The age and condition of Center School also do not allow the district to meet its goal for "neighborhood schools" where all K-5 students from a family could attend the same school near their home.

Library Grant, New Elementary School on BOS Agenda Tonight

The 11-lot definitive subdivision plan shows a new road from Clinton Street to East Main Street. The new road will serve the Legacy Farms development, which is subject to a Master Plan Special Permit issued by the Planning Board on May 13, 2010.
