Tonight the 1 and 1 Westwood Wolverines take on the 1 and 1 Hopkinton Hillers. Westwood so far this season lost to Foxborough 25-20 and defeated Seekonk 36-6.

Hopkinton started off the season with a pair of games on the road. The first game was a tough defensive battle but resulted in a 12-0 loss for the Hillers against Wayland but last week Hopkinton redeemed themselves as they got a 35-14 win over Norton. Tonight it is a matchup of 2 TVL rivals that have played some terrific games over the last few seasons. Last year Westwood hosted Hopkinton on October 24th and it was a back and fourth battle that ended 34-33 in favor of Westwood.

Last week The Hopkinton Hillers evened their record at 1-1 with an impressive 35-12 win on the road in Norton on Friday night. Jake Kelleher threw touchdown passes to Jack Vaccari and Will Abbott, while co-captain Sam Lehman had two touchdown runs and added two fumble recoveries on defense. Connor Hebert rounded out the scoring with a 3 yard plunge and also had an interception. In all, the Hiller defense produced 4 turnovers led by strong performances by their front 7 including Jack Guelfi, Josh Sokol, Matt Burns, and co-captain Nick Poillucci.

After a loss on the road to open the football season, the Westwood Wolverines emerged as the victor against Seekonk 36-6 at home last Friday. Westwood put up 28 points in the 2nd quarter alone. Senior captain Steve Patterson threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns to three different receivers, and the Wolverine defense picked off three passes, including a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown from sophomore Jake Antonucci.
Westwood scored 28 points in the second quarter after an opening 11 minutes that featured just two possessions. Patterson finished 16-of-27 on the night, including 12-of-18 for 151 yards in the first half, hitting six different receivers. McDonald (68 yards) and Rob Antonucci (40 yards) led the way with four grabs each.

Tonight it will be a tough TVL battle between 2 very good teams. The Hillers led by 6th year head coach Jim Girard take on Westwood led by 5th year head coach Ed Mantie at David M. Hughes Stadium in Hopkinton at 7pm.
