Hillers Girls Basketball Advance to Sectional Championship

On Wednesday Night (3/8) the 2nd seeded Hopkinton Hillers took on 6th seeded Marlborough in the Central D2 Sectional Semi-Finals at Worcester State University. The Hillers outscored Marlborough in all four quarters and took the game in dominant fashion 59-28. The Hillers improved to 20 and 2 on the season, Marlborough ends their season 16 and 7.

The Hillers offense got started early and took advantage of Marlborough's struggles. Mikayla Pucci and Ivy Gogolin both struck for three 2's as the Hillers outscored Marlborough 19-4 in the 1st quarter. Marlborough continued to struggle offensively in the 2nd quarter, the Hillers outscored Marlborough 11-6 and led 30-10 at the half. The Hillers continued a dominant team effort and had offensive contributions from 6 different players in the 3rd quarter and outscored Marlborough 16-11. The Hillers had a 46-21 lead heading into the 4th and were quickly able to close out the game outscoring Marlborough in the final 8 minutes, 13-7. Hopkinton took the game 59-28.

The Hillers advance to play in the Central D2 Sectional Championship against 1st seeded Medfield. The game is currently scheduled for 5:15pm Saturday 3/11 at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Medfield defeated 5th seeded Wayland, 65-37. Hopkinton and Medfield are both 20 and 2 on the season. TVL rivals, Hopkinton and Medfield split their two meetings this season. On December 20th, Medfield won 49-46 at Hopkinton. The Hillers got revenge on January 27th, winning 64-33 at Medfield.
