Margaret W. Kenney, 92, died December 8, 2017 at St. Patrick's Manor, Framingham. She was the widow of William Kenney, who died in May 1988. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late William and Bridget (McCormack) Cloonan.

She was a 1943 graduate of Hopkinton High School and was employed as a secretary for the Town of Hopkinton for many years.

Joan Y. Comeau, 81

Joan Y. Comeau, 81, died suddenly December 7, 2017 at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. She was the wife of Roy Comeau, to whom she was married for 59 years. Born in Everett, she was the daughter of the late George F. Dumas and Mary J. (Maddox) Dumas Leontie.

Joan was a 1954 graduate of Hopkinton High School and lived in Hopkinton for many years, where she and Roy raised their family.

Sandra “Sandie” Pope, 69

Sandra “Sandie” Pope, 69, of Dennis passed away on November 28, following a cerebral hemorrhage, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in San Francisco, CA in 1948 to her late parents, John and Mildred “Mims” Kessler, Sandie spent her early years living in many places in the U.S. and Europe, as the daughter of a U.S. Air Force Officer.

Video: Elmwood School Kicks Off 20th Year

For the 20th year, Elmwood hosted the annual swearing in ceremony for their Wee Deliver program. The program allows students to learn what it's like working to operate a post office. The program helps build skills, teamwork ability as well as other applicable experiences which relate to the real world. Principal Anne Carver explained the program at the ceremony and Hopkinton Postmaster, Carl Zagame swore in the Postmasters as well as the rest of the student participants in the program. The event featured holiday themed musical performances, arts & crafts for the kids, vendors, holiday snacks and a raffle of gift baskets with proceeds donated to Project Just Because. St. Paul's Invites all to Blue Christmas Sunday December 17th

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church invites the public to a special “Blue Christmas” Service on Sunday, December 17, at 5:00 p.m. This service will include readings, candle lighting and silence and will focus on the hope and healing God offers to each one of us. Santa is coming to the Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) on
Sunday, December 17. The public is invited to Santa’s​ ​Holiday​ ​Workshop,​ where children can create
their own ornaments, hand build a snowman out of clay, decorate a gingerbread cookie, and enjoy hot
chocolate and other treats. There will be a special meet and greet with the Holiday Disney princesses,

Middlesex Sheriff’s Office to recognize graduates of 41st Basic Training Academy

Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian will welcome new Corrections Officers during a ceremony marking the graduation of the MSO’s 41st Basic Training Academy (BTA) on Friday, December 8, at Lowell Memorial Auditorium. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.
 
In order to graduate, recruits were required to complete 12 weeks of classroom, physical and on the job training at both the MSO Training Academy and the Middlesex Jail & House of Correction.
 
Lowell Police Superintendent William Taylor will provide the keynote address.
