Hopkinton Center for the Arts Open House Saturday 8/27 10-1

This Saturday's Open House promises to be one of the largest ever. Attendees will have so much to see and do. We have a number of activities for our youngest fans lined up, including our Disney Princesses and fun crafts, plus workshops and demonstrations for older students. (Full schedule below).

Video: Hillers Football Preview 2016

Hillers Football finished 6 and 5 overall last year and made their 3rd straight playoff appearance which resulted in a 28-14 loss against Duxbur. This season the Hillers will have to adapt to a new QB as Jake Kelleher is gone, new bodies on the offensive and defensive line as well as the loss of key WR Jack Vaccari and Key RB Sam Lehman.

Despite the loss of many key players, including the captaints from last year, the new captains of the team are ready to step up. HCAM news caught up with 3 of this years captains; Tim McGrath OL/DL, Isaac Stilwell RB/LB and Jimmy Adams QB.

Open Auditions for Let's Sing! Dance! Act!

The Jodi Palmieri Dance Company is expanding!

Let's Sing! Dance! Act! is holding open auditions on Sunday, August 28 from 4:00-5:00 PM at 239 South Street. The audition is for dancers age 8-17.

Dancers should prepare 90 seconds of a routine in any style. Bring music on an iPod or a similar device. No experience is needed.

Video: Ballot Machine Testing a Success

Newly Elected Town Clerk, Connor Degan had his first experience heading the ballot machine testing today. The machines were tested in preparation for the State Primary elections in September. Wardens, Russell Ellsworth and Richard McMillan assisted with the testing alongside Brenda L'italien from the company that makes the ballot machines, LHS associates. Four ballot machines were tested with the memory chip and spare memory chip. The Automark machine was also tested, the Automark machine is used for people that cannot use the marker to mark ballots or for blind people.

Diabetes Self-Management Workshop

Learn to take control of your diabetes with this free workshop! The workshop meets on Monday, September 12, 19, and 26, and on October 3, 17, and 24. It takes place at the Hopkinton Senior Center, 28 Mayhew Street in Hopkinton, from 12:30-3:00 PM.

During these six courses, you will learn:

- Techniques to deal with diabetes symptoms, fatigue, pain, and hyper/hypoglycemia
- Better nutrition and exercise choices
- How to improve your patient/physician relationship
- Medications and Management
- Skills to manage symptoms

The Learning Center of Hopkinton had some delcious treats for sale including cookies and brownies to raise money for teacher, Melody Ring who is battaling pancreatic cancer. "We're trying to help raise money to help out with medical bills, take care of the house and keep her spirits up." View the segment below.

Bake Sale Part 2

After Monday's success,the children and Staff of The Learning Center will hold their Lemonade and Bake Sale fundraiser again today, Tuesday, from 3:00 to 5:30 pm to help their teacher, Melody Ring, battle cancer. All donations and proceeds shall go to Melody's relief.

Free Pasta Dinner at St. Paul’s August 31

The August Community Pasta Supper at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 61 Wood Street (Rte. 135) will be held at 5:30 p.m. on August 31. All are welcome to this event, which is being supported by the churches of the Hopkinton Christian Service Connection. This pasta supper is held for the community on the last Wednesday of every month.

The meal will feature pasta (gluten free available), vegetarian tomato sauce, meatballs on the side, green salad, bread, beverages, and dessert. The pasta supper is free, although donations will be accepted.
