The Hopkinton Education Foundation is proud to announce Amy Dorfman, a local mother and speech pathologist, as the winner of our invitational number for the 122nd Boston Marathon. Upon hearing the news, “I'm elated, nervous, and excited to run for HEF!!”

Amy moved to Hopkinton with her family 6 years ago, feeling the strong sense of community. Her ties to the educational system drew her to want to run her very first Boston Marathon for the Hopkinton Education Foundation. She has three children in the Hopkinton Schools from 2nd grade to 6 th and has seen the direct impact HEF has had on all of her children, “My kids have all benefited from the grants that HEF has provided them and I would like for them and all their classmates to continue to benefit from those grants.”

Running is one of Amy’s strongest passions as she has run numerous half marathons in the past 5 years as well as the Providence Marathon in 2016. However, this will be her first Boston! “I am most excited to run Boston because as a Hopkinton resident I have seen the excitement that fulfills the town in the weeks leading up to the race.” She will continue to train as she has for all her previous races and will keep us up to date with her training.

Amy enjoys volunteering in the community as well and combines this with both her faith and her love of running as she is a CCD teacher and coached for Girls on the Run. She continues to want to give back and could not be “prouder to train and run to raise money for grants for the school-aged children in our community.”
