The Hopkinton Garden Club has joined “Marathon Daffodils” in a collaborative project designed to strengthen our community by bringing beauty to where there was unfathomable loss, mayhem and sadness.

Program Description: Marathon Daffodils

Boston horticultural organizations, partnering with communities and volunteers, plan to plant daffodils along the 26.2 mile Boston Marathon route. The organizations, including Tower Hill Botanic Garden, The Massachusetts Horticultural Society, The Garden Club Federation, and other groups hope to raise $1000 per mile for a total of $26,500 from Hopkinton to Boston.

To support the effort, we are reaching out to our community for help via donations and/or for volunteers to participate in Hopkinton’s planting effort. The Club is also coordinating with town officials to select public spaces which can be planted when the bulbs are available in October.

Individuals and groups can join the project in several ways:

  • Visit the Garden Club’s booth at PolyArts on September 28th to donate or to sign up to help plant bulbs.
  • Send a donation to “Hopkinton Garden Club, P.O. Box 61, Hopkinton, MA 01748” marked “Marathon Daffodils”.
  • Email the Club at Info@hopkintongardenclub.org to sign up for bulb planting.
  • We look forward to your participation!
