On Tuesday, February 17th, Barbara McPhee will join us to present “The Buzz on Honeybees – A Fascinating Study”. Barbara has been a beekeeper for over 30 years and cares for six hives, an observation hive and five government research hives. In this lecture, Barbara will introduce you to the honeybee's world - their family, their home, and their work. Our honeybee population is undergoing tremendous stress leading to great declines in their numbers. Barbara will update you on the research that's being done, how her apiary has contributed to research efforts, and some of the findings to date. Barbara’s exhibits typically include a mini-hive and tools to work the bees. She’ll also show you the products honeybees produce and how we use them. Barbara was named “Beekeeper of the Year” in 2009, and has been a Master Gardener since 1986.

Our February 17th meeting will be held at the Faith Community Church, 146 Main Street, Room 233, in Hopkinton. Our general meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. The speaker portion starts at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. New members are welcome any time during our club year.
