Hopkinton Middle School Principal Alan Keller wrote the below letter to parents after one of the busses on the way to Washington D.C. was stalled because of a flat tire. Despite the unfortunate situation, students are still making the best of the circumstances. Picture was posted by one of the teachers on the trip.

Dear Parents,

It has been a long day for the students and adults on Bus 5, but as previously communicated, upon changing the tire, it was determined that the bus could not safely resume the trip.

I give great credit to our students and adults, who, as you know, awoke early this morning to begin this journey. They have focused their efforts on remaining positive -- taking part in flash mobs, songs and dances, relay races, and other games. They will be stopping for dinner on their way to Washington and then attending Arlington National Cemetery on a different day so that they can experience this important landmark.

Needless to say, this was not part of the plan. Thank you for your patience and understanding,

Alan M. Keller
Principal
