Hopkinton Parks and Rec Partners with HCA for Summer Concert Series

By contributor,

The Hopkinton Center for the Arts and the Hopkinton Parks and Recreation department have partnered to produce and sponsor the Summer Concert Series on the Hopkinton Common. Additionally, the concert series is sponsored in part by the Barbara Corbett-Dobson and Dave Dobson Memorial Fund. The free series begins June 20th and runs through mid-August, with each concert featuring headlining musical acts as well as children’s entertainment, providing a full family experience.

The Summer Concert Series debuts on Friday, June 20th with a concert from 6:00-8:00 pm featuring the band Times Square, a multi-genre group that plays the best of rock, swing, Motown and more. Subsequently, the concerts will continue throughout the summer on Sundays with concerts from 5:00-7:00 pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and picnics with them as they gather on the Common to enjoy the activities. The concerts will include various musical styles, including jazz and Big Band performances from the Roy Scott Big Band, classical selections from the MetroWest Symphony, rock and pop selections from the Glamor Girls, and more.

Joining the Parks and Recreation department and the HCA as a partial sponsor is the Barbara Corbett-Dobson and Dave Dobson Memorial Fund. After Mrs. Corbett-Dobson, a longtime Hopkinton resident, passed away in 2013, the Corbett and Dobson families created the Fund as a way to honor both Barbara and her husband Dave. “My mother always loved the concerts on the Common, where families from the community could come together to enjoy the music and create memories,” said Patrick Corbett, Barbara’s son. The Corbett and Dobson families plan to continue supporting the concert series in the future through additional fundraising.
