Town Manager Norman Khumalo announced today in a press release that Hopkinton has received a grant in the amount of $156,792 from the Department of Energy Resources Green Communities Grant program. The money will go towards the Town Hall and Elmwood School energy management systems, with $71,539 being applied to the Town Hall system and the remaining $82,253 going to fund improvements in the Elmwood School energy management system. This award follows the Commonwealth's designation of Hopkinton as a Green Community and the town's subsequent successful implementation of the initial designation grant in 2010 in the amount of $137,502. "On behalf of the Town, I would like to express my most sincere gratitude to the Hopkinton Sustainable Green Committee, Dave Daltorio and Al Rogers for collaborating on this competitive grant application which the Green Communities Divisioin deemed 'viable and well developed'", said Khumlao. "Through their excellent efforts, Hopkinton continues to be a leader in clean energy."
