Hopkinton Republican Caucus Results

The Hopkinton Republican Town Committee held a Caucus on April 7, 2017 which nominated and endorsed candidates for the upcoming May 15th Town Election. This slate of candidates is especially well qualified and have years of public service to the people of Hopkinton. Five of the seven Republican candidates are current incumbents.

John Coutinho for Selectman-incumbent
John has served the town in several positions. He is currently Vice Chairman of the Board of Selectmen and Chairman of the Zoning Advisory Committee. He was previously on the Planning Board. He is seeking his second term on the Board of Selectmen.

Ken Weismantel for Planning Board- 5 year term- incumbent
Ken has been the Chairman of Planning Board for the last 6 years and is running for his third term. He is a member of Community Preservation Committee. He was appointed by Governor Baker and serves on the Water Resources Commission and the 495/ MetroWest Suburban Edge Community Commission. He has been elected to the DPW Commission, the Cemetery Commission and the Water and Sewer Commission. He was previously appointed to the Zoning Advisory Committee, Open Space Committee, Fruit Street Master Plan Subcommittee, and several other town committees.

Gary Trendel for Planning Board- 5 year term
Gary has previously served the town on the Upper Charles River Trail Committee and has coached his daughter’s sports teams.

Al Rogers for Planning Board – 1 year term
Al is currently serves on the Community Preservation Committee. Previously he was elected to the Parks and Recreation Commission. He also served on the Fruit Street Development Committee. He is the Director of Buildings and Grounds of the Hopkinton Public Schools.

Amy Markovich for Parks and Recreation Commission- incumbent
Amy is running for her third term on the Parks and Recreation Commission. She is involved in youth soccer and lacrosse sports.

June Harris for Board of Library Trustees-incumbent
June Harris is running for her third term on Board of Library Trustees. She has been on the Trustees since the Board was established. She is looking forward to the completion of the Library expansion project.

Claire Wright for Cemetery Commission- incumbent
Claire is running for her fifth term on the Cemetery Commission. She is currently a member of the Board of Selectmen. Previously she served three terms on the Planning Board, Design Review Board, Downtown Revitalization Committee, Historic Commission, Fruit Street Master Plan Subcommittee and Historic District Commission.

The Hopkinton Republican Town Committee requests that you look at the excellent qualifications of our endorsed candidates and their positions that are brought forward during the campaign before you vote on Monday, May 15th.
