Good Afternoon, this is Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director Ken Clark

As I’m sure all of you have been doing, your Emergency Management Team is closely monitoring potential severe weather impact reports from MEMA and the National Weather Service (NWS) related to Hurricane Sandy. At this time it appears our critical impact will be due to sustained high winds of 30 – 50 mph with gusts to 60 mph for a sustained time period in excess of twelve hours beginning Monday, 29 October. Conditions such as these make it highly likely that severe tree damage will occur, resulting in power outages. We are also receiving predictions of rainfall in the two – five inch range. The Hopkinton Emergency Management Group urges all residents to prepare for this severe weather event. For information on preparedness measures you can take to keep you and your family safe visit http://www.hopkintonma.gov/emergency. We will continue to monitor predicted conditions and their impact on Hopkinton and share additional information with you as it becomes available.
