Dear Veterans and Friends:

Summer may be over, but we still have the warmth of the Vets Breakfast on 6 October 2017, at 0900 hours at the Hopkinton Senior Center. Include chipped beef with all the fixins', and you have a great start to your morning.

You might share a table with any of the hundreds of Hopkinton veterans. Here they are: www.hcam.tv/series/veterans/slideshow.shtml . A recent photo, the 570th, that will soon be posted online is of Brevet Brigadier General Charles F. Walcott.

Tribute will be paid to comrades who passed-away since the September breakfast. Additionally the veterans who are known to be under the weather will be mentioned, allowing those of us more able-bodied to pay a visit, or at least make a telephone call, to those on "Sick Call." It is a simple gesture that means a lot.

Memories of military events that previously occurred on October 6th will be reviewed. Other announcements will keep you current with veterans activities in the area. Mr. Kyle Toto from the VA New England Healthcare System in Bedford, Mass. will introduce us to selected veterans services. There will be opportunity to meet with Mr. Toto in private if there are personal matters to discuss.

A free breakfast will be granted to anyone who correctly answers the monthly baseball quiz. Who is the batter with the most-ever MLB World Series hits?

Any veteran with transportation difficulties should contact Amy Beck on/before 4 October 2017, 508 497-9730. Please encourage other Vets to attend the breakfast, and enjoy the camaraderie.

American Legion McDonough-Carlberg Post 202 will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, and blessing of the meal.

See you Friday. Out.
