Job Posting: Chief Financial Officer/ Finance Director

The Town of Hopkinton seeks a Chief Financial Officer/Finance Director
Under the direction of the Town Manaqer, the CFO/Finance Director directs all of the financial
planning and accounting practices; serves as the financial advisor to the Town Manager and the
Town regarding financial forecasting strategies, plans and management; serves as a member of
the senior management team. Supports the Town’s financial planning and analysis efforts;
oversees cash flow, cash management, working capital and town audits; prepares financial
statements and reports and ensures legal compliance on all financial functions.
The incumbent is responsible for providing administrative direction of the Finance Department,
Accounting, Purchasing, Revenue Collection, Investments and Debt Service, Assessing and
Treasury. This role formulates all financial policies, plans, and procedures for the Town to
ensure accuracy, accountability, and efficiency of all municipal and departmental finances. The
CFO acts as an ex-officio member to the Appropriations Committee per the Town Charter and
reports to the Town Manager on a frequent basis on all financial matters. This role interprets
and administers federal, state and local laws, and regulations and policies relevant to municipal
financial management.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must meet the following to be considered qualified for this
position:
Education, Training and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field; Master’s Degree in Accounting,
Financial Management Preferred; Ten (10+) years of progressively responsible experience
in accounting or financial management, must have municipal experience in an administrative
or management position in which the major duties involved budgeting, financial analysis,
cost control or accounting. Five (5+) years of experience in a supervisory capacity. Certified
Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Government Accountant (CGA) Preferred, Certified
Government Management Accountant Preferred.

Required Licensing/Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Government
Accountant (CGA) Preferred, Certified Government Management Accountant Preferred.
Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000 annually
