TOWN of HOPKINTON’S POLICE DEPARTMENT Seeks Full-Time and Part-Time Dispatchers - Under the general guidance of the Dispatch Management with direction from the Chief of Police, dispatch employees are responsible for receiving and transmitting emergency and administrative messages to appropriate law enforcement, fire and emergency personnel in the manner dictated by the State Mandated Emergency Medical Dispatch Protocol, and department policy. Positions require the use of discretion, independent judgment, and initiative, and incumbents are required to operate within established mandated state and departmental guidelines and procedures. Dispatchers receive, have access to, and must maintain confidential information. Must possess detailed knowledge of the location of streets, buildings, and other significant areas of the community in order to maximize response time.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have excellent vision and hearing accuracy, and must be able to process verbal information/direction in a concise manner; must also demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure. Excellent verbal, written, typing, listening, and computer skills are a must. Confidentiality, strong attention to detail, and superior customer service skills are also a must. Two years’ experience in communications, emergency response, or related field a plus.

CERTIFICATIONS: E911, LEAPS, APCO EMD, and APCO PST1 Certifications are preferred.
