The Town of Hopkinton seeks a full-time Health Services Agent to be responsible for department level
environmental health services, technical, inspectional and administrative work.

Under the direction of the Health Director the Health Agent is responsible for department level
environmental health services in accordance with the policies of the Board of Health and Health Director,
involving administrative and inspectional work. This individual performs the administration of the Town’s
public health program to include the enforcement of state and local public health laws, rules and regulations,
the processing of applications, and issuance of permits and licenses, and the maintenance of records.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in public health or a related field; three (3) years of related experience preferred; or any
equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Special Requirements:
Possession of Valid Driver’s License
Certified Pool Operator
Certified Food Protection Manager
Certified Soil Evaluator
Certified Health Officer
MA Certified Title V
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
● Thorough knowledge of state laws and regulations pertaining to public health, housing regulations and
sanitation. Working knowledge of inspection and control issues, soil evaluation, food service
management, and water treatment.
● Familiarity with building codes and construction issues, food preparation and storage equipment.
● Ability to enforce and interpret regulations firmly, tactfully and impartially.
● Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
● Proficient computer skills in the operation of Microsoft Word, email, internet, data entry, report
generation and spreadsheet formatting.
● Excellent planning, organizational, customer service, business math and negotiation skills.

Hiring Salary: $63,731.20 - $76,481.60 Annually, depending on qualifications

Competitive Leave and Benefits package
40 hour work week: Mon, Wed., Thurs.; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Tuesday, 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
