Job Posting: Hopkinton Council on Aging Part Time Assistant Director

Town of Hopkinton’s Council on Aging seeks PT (30 hrs) Assistant Director - Under the general supervision of the Senior Center Director, the PT Assistant Director provides administrative and professional expertise in assisting the Senior Center Director to develop and implement programs and services for senior citizens. Responsibilities will also include the development and administration of department policies and procedures; researching and preparing reports; strategic planning; and grants administration. The Assistant Director will also oversee the Senior Center’s transportation services, and will be involved in the planning and organization of special events. This position requires a great deal of skill in meeting its planning and programmatic duties. Excellent representation of the Senior Center and the Town is a basic expectation. Involvement with community/public events, meetings with Town Boards, and interaction with other Senior Centers and agencies are essential. Excellent patience in working with the Senior Population is a prerequisite, as are superb customer service, and problem resolution skills. Confidentiality when working with our seniors is paramount.

Qualifications: BA/BS in Gerontology, Sociology, or related field is required. Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in gerontology, home care, or a related public assistance or social service agency; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Knowledge of non-profit organizations is helpful. Servsafe Manager Certification will be required. Must possess or be able to obtain CPR and AED certifications within a required time frame after hire.

Strong knowledge of current socio-economic and health related issues, and applicable laws and regulations under which elderly home care and other support services programs are administered, including applicable state and federal agencies with an emphasis on service to the elderly are required. Ability to listen, observe, and interact in a positive and effective manner with people at all levels of society, particularly the elderly. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must. Experience working with a diverse population is a plus.

Must have experience utilizing MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google, and other computer applications.
