Job Posting: Library Director for the Town of Hopkinton
Do you aspire to be an integral part of a dynamic professional team in a newly renovated
library that the community embraces as a space for everyone?

The Library Director is responsible for all library operations, including planning, budgeting,
public relations, and personnel administration. The Director will work closely with a dedicated,
well-trained and service-oriented staff, Town management, community leaders, professional
organizations, and other library directors. The successful candidate will have proven experience
in library administration, including the ability to articulate a vision for the library services and
inspire others within the library and throughout the Hopkinton community.
Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school; seven (7) years of
progressively responsible experience in library administration, including three (3) years
in a supervisory capacity, including personnel management, fiscal management, program
development and facility management, as well as demonstrated leadership qualities and
experience leading and mentoring staff.
State Certification of Librarianship from the Massachusetts Board of Library
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of professional library work.
Thorough knowledge of the management and organization of library operations including
collection development, administration, personnel and finance.
Building maintenance and public administration management knowledge.
Working knowledge of computerization and appropriate library applications.
Ability to supervise staff in an effective and supportive manner.
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with organizations, departments
Ability of leadership, independent judgment, initiative and decision-making.
Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate effective library services, strategies, facilities
Ability to communicate effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Proficient computer skills and budgetary skills; interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Grant writing and fundraising skills.
Hiring Pay Range: $60,000 to $75,000 annually dependent on qualifications; Full Range to
