The Town of Hopkinton is seeking the following positions for its Senior Center

PT (up to 19 hours) Head Chef &

Food Service Worker

Hourly Salary Range: $17.00 - $22.50, depending on Qualifications.

Typical Schedule: 8 am - 1 pm, 3 - 4 days/week. Schedule to be finalized with Candidate.

This position requires manual and semi-skilled work related to food preparation and kitchen maintenance in the Senior Center. Duties include design and development of daily and special event menus and maintenance of quality, sanitation and safety standards for all areas under their control. The Head Chef will prepare and serve meals with exceptional customer service to Seniors participating in the department’s meal program, monitor supplies, accept deliveries and ensure supplies are stored appropriately within required guidelines. This position also supervises kitchen operations and food service workers. All other related work as required.

PT Food Service Worker

Hourly Salary Range: $12.50 - $19.00, depending on Qualifications.

Typical Schedule: 8 am - 12 noon, 3 days/week. Schedule to be finalized with Candidate.

Assignments given daily. Functions independently, referring problems to supervisor only when clarifica- tion or interpretation of policy or procedure is required. Duties include assisting in the design and development of daily and special event menus. Maintains quality, sanitation and safety standards. Prepares and serves meals. Cleans the kitchen and dining area. Providing exceptional customer services to Seniors and others participating in the departments meal programs. Monitors and makes daily trips to pick up food supplies. Ensures that supplies are stored appropriately and within required guidelines. All other related work as required or as the situation dictates.

Both positions are under the general supervision of the Senior Services Director and require the following qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must meet the following to be considered qualified for this position:

Knowledge of kitchen equipment, materials and procedures used in food preparation, food safety and kitchen maintenance.

Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks at one time with frequent interruptions.

Identify needs for repairs to kitchen equipment.

Ability to follow written or verbal instructions

Organizational, interpersonal/collaborative communication, resourcefulness and discretion.

Time management and customer service skills.

Moderate physical effort required; frequently required to move/transport up to 30 lbs.

Education, Training and Experience

High School Equivalency and one year experience in cafeteria or kitchen work. Experience with Seniors Preferred.

Required Licensing/Certification: ServSafe, CPR and Allergy Awareness Certifications.
