The Hopkinton Garden Club is pleased to announce that Johanna Impellizeri will be running the 125th Boston Marathon and will raise funds on the club’s behalf. Johanna teamed with the Hopkinton Garden Club through the Boston Athletic Association’s charity program which works with Hopkinton’s Select Board. This year, the B.A.A. Boston Marathon, which starts in Hopkinton, will take place on October 11.

The Hopkinton Garden Club is a non-profit which has been serving Hopkinton for over 90 years. Each year, they design, plant and maintain in-ground gardens and planters along Main Street, offer a public Speaker Series on horticultural topics, and make a scholarship available to students pursuing horticulturally related programs. Johanna states “The Hopkinton Garden Club does such a great job beautifying the town and supporting their community.”

Johanna hails from New York, attended Assumption College in Worcester as an athlete and then moved to Boston where she became more interested in the Boston Marathon as a live spectator. “Seeing the energy from the runners and crowd solidified my dream and I couldn’t be more grateful” said Johanna.

Johanna Impellizeri is now raising funds through her GoFundMe site https://gofund.me/d10f267e with a goal of raising $5,000 for the Hopkinton Garden Club.

The Hopkinton Garden Club is a nonprofit organization whose mission in the local community is education, beautification, and conservation. The Club was organized in 1924 and is an affiliate of The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts.
