WINDHAM-- John “Skip” Carlberg, 72, passed away peacefully in his home on June 30th after a brief illness.

Skip grew up in Hopkinton, Ma. graduating from HHS in 1962.
He moved to Windham in 1971 to pursue a promotion at A-M Corporation as a service supervisor.

He serviced printing equipment for A-M for many years until they disbanded. After A-M, he went to work for Offtech of Maine, Inc., in Westbrook, which he thoroughly enjoyed, until his passing. He also spent his days off working for his son, John, at the Shelterman. He was a very key component to their team.

Skip was an avid golfer. He was the president of the Printer’s Golf league where he played weekly at his “home” golf course, Riverside, in Westbrook. Every year he would organize league trips to Sugarloaf golf course.

He loved to come home and tell stories about the trips, including follies with his great friend, Dale Rand.

He also loved hunting with his longtime buddy, Dennis Little. He and Dennis would hunt locally, as much as possible, and take their yearly trip up north to East Corinth and Brownville, where they would hunt for the week with Dale and other friends.

Skip loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Maureen, to whom he was married over 50 years. He is also survived by his two sons, John and David who are married to his favorite daughters-in-law, Teresa and Melissa.

He has four grandsons; Jessie, John, Dawson and Drew. He also left behind a beautiful little cocker spaniel named Cassie. He is also survived by his Mother Jessie and his two sisters, Carol and Jeanne, and predeceased by his Father, John. His family and friends were his life. He was so proud of his boys and their business ventures.

If they ever needed a thing he was there.

A celebration of life will be held at Skip and Maureen’s home, on July 22nd, from 4-7pm. Memorial Service lead by Father Tim of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, in Windham, will start at 4pm and be followed by a Eulogy and open forum to tell stories about Skip’s life. Light refreshments available. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 US Route One, Scarborough, ME 04074 or the American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
