Greetings HHS Community,

As the clock winds down on summer, we are completing preparations for the new school year at Hopkinton High School. Joining the efforts is a new Assistant Principal who started work last week. I am pleased to announce the addition of Josh Hanna as our the newest member of the Hopkinton High School administrative team. Josh graduated from HHS and is back after spending the last 13 years as a social studies teacher and department head at Natick High School. Join me in welcoming Josh back to the Hiller family. His expertise, energy and enthusiasm have already added much to our team oriented approach.

Please find below some useful information about times and dates for upcoming events at HHS.

Reminders:

Tomorrow, Saturday, August 24th is the weed and clean-up day for all of our schools. The event is very informal and volunteer directed; in other words, organized chaos. All interested volunteers are invited to come to the high school campus from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM to help weed and tidy our school grounds and athletic fields. Bring any tools you think would be helpful to pull weeds up by their nasty little roots. Remember the golden rule for poison ivy: "LEAVES OF THREE, LET THEM BE". Long pants, long sleeves and gloves might be a good idea as well. Please bring a trash bag in which to deposit your "harvest". Trash bags can be left in any conspicuous area for the maintenance staff to collect. Areas to concentrate upon at HHS are the rear of the building near the cafeteria and all of the areas around the athletic fields. Many hands make light work so wake your teenagers, bring a neighbor and join in the fun!

Some student groups have been assigned to specific areas of the school campus as follows:
Class of '17 - Tennis Courts
Captains Council - Dugout
Student Council - Track and Dog House
UNITE Mentors - Track Entry, Flag Pole and Field Six
Tuesday, August 27th is school picture and schedule day. All students grades 10-12 must come to the school between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM to have school photos taken and to receive class schedules. There will be five cameras set up to accommodate as many students as possible. However, keep in mind that ninth graders will be having their photos taken in the morning. Quicker service is likely to be available in the afternoon.
