Katherine N. Clooney, 69

Katherine N. Clooney, 69, died Tuesday March 21, 2012 at home after a long illness. She was the wife of Michael Clooney, to whom she was married for 42 years. Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius J. and Nora (Hines) Sullivan.

She was a graduate of St. Clement's High School in Somerville and Fisher Junior College. She ran the housing office at Harvard University for eight years and was a librarian in the Hopkinton school system for 25 years. She enjoyed sailing, camping, long walks and the beach and was especially fond of spending time with her large, extended family.

In addition to her husand, she leaves her daughter Nora Clooney of Cambridge and her son David Clooney and his wife Amber of Amherst. She also leaves her sisters Mary Brown of Walpole and Joan Sullivan of North Brookfield, and her brothers Daniel Sullivan of Hudson and Thomas Sullivan of Newburyport. She is pre-deceased by her brothers Cornelius and John Sullivan.

The funeral will be held Saturday, March 24 at 9:00 a.m. from the Callanan Cronin Funeral Home, 34 Church Street. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 20 Church Street. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday, March 23 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
