State Senator Karen Spilka today won the endorsement of the Laborers' Local 22 representing thousands of general construction workers throughout Greater Boston. Business Manager Louis A. Mandarini, Jr. said Spilka is clearly the choice in this primary.

"Karen Spilka is a fighter and when she promises to go to Washington and fight for my members, her word is good," said Mandarini, Jr. "I know Karen will make a real difference as part of our Congressional delegation. Karen is the only candidate in this race that we can always count on to put the interests of working families first.”

“I am thrilled to have the support of all the hardworking men and women of Laborers' Local 22 from Melrose, Malden, Revere, Winthrop and Medford,” said Karen. “There are so many critical issues before Congress right now that need to be addressed and I look forward to being the loud voice to fight for working families.”

Laborers' Local 22 represents more than 2700 members who work in general construction throughout Greater Boston. The Union has significant membership in numerous cities and towns in the 5th District, including Medford, Malden, Revere, Winthrop and Melrose.

Karen has also earned the endorsement of the Laborers' Local 609 representing workers in MetroWest with significant membership in Framingham and Ashland and the support of the Central Massachusetts AFL-CIO.
