Eleanor E. (Jean) Cunis, 103

Eleanor E. Cunis, known as Jean, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 22nd, at the age of 103. Born in 1918 in Natick, Jean grew up in Framingham and graduated from Framingham High School in 1936. She attended Framingham Business College and worked briefly at Telechron before marrying Anthony Cunis of Ashland in 1938. The couple enjoyed 64 years of faithful marriage, raising five children and welcoming eight grandchildren before Tony’s death in 2002.

William John Keefe, 86

William John Keefe, 86, of Plymouth and formerly Hopkinton, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Pauline (Bouret) and William Keefe. Bill Was the beloved husband of 41 years to Judy A. (Johnson) Keefe of Plymouth. Judy and Bill were life partners who had a long, intensely joyous and loving life together. They lived in Naples, FL and in Charlotte and Sunset Beach, NC. Favorite times were golfing at Round Hill, Sea Trail and White Cliffs.

Hopkinton Hillers News & Notes: Girls Volleyball, Boys Soccer and Football all get Big Friday Wins!

Boys Soccer:

-Hopkinton Hillers defeat Holliston 2-0 and hand the Panthers 1st loss of the season.
There are only 2 imperfections on Holliston's record, a 2-2 tie from September 13th versus Hopkinton and now a 2-0 loss on October 22nd versus Hopkinton. Hopkinton ended Holliston's 10 game winning streak with goals from Senior, Sean Golembiewski (45 seconds into 2nd half) and Senior, Owen Schnur (26:18 left in 2nd half). Junior, Max Nye also had a great performance in net. Hopkinton improves to 12-3-1 on the season, Holliston falls to 12-1-1.

HPS Press Release: Hopkinton School Committee Votes to Lift Mask Mandate for Trial Period

On Thursday evening, October 21, 2021, the Hopkinton School Committee voted 3-2 to lift the mask mandate for a three week trial period at Hopkinton High School. Hopkinton High School received the “off-ramping” waiver from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) on October 7, 2021.

The three-week lifting of the mask mandate begins on Monday, November 1, 2021 and ends on Friday, November 19, 2021. Students will resume wearing masks on Monday, November 22, 2021, prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Hopkinton School Committee Passes Trial Period for Optional Mask Policy

The Hopkinton School committee voted 3 to 2 in favor of a mask-optional policy in schools. The policy will be on a trial basis from November 1st until November 19th. The 19 day trial period will be for gathering data such as breakthrough cases and tracking greater absenteeism because of COVID-19 like symptoms per School Superintendent, Dr. Carol Cavanaugh's recommendation.
