Yesterday, the Massachusetts legislature launched a new web site to make information on legislative redistricting readily available to the public. The redistricting process, which occurs every ten years following the federal census, will result in new boundaries for state House of Representative, state Senate, and congressional districts and will be complete by the fall of 2011.

A Joint Legislative Committee on Redistricting was recently appointed and yesterday launched a website that includes historic maps, census data, committee announcements and documents, public hearing dates and an email for contacting the committee directly. The site will be updated regularly.

A Metrowest hearing date on the redistricting process has been scheduled for May 11 at 6p.m. at Framingham State University. More information is available on the site and the public is encouraged to attend and participate in the process.
