Enter Stage Left Theater presents Shrek the Musical Jr. featuring a cast comprised of its youth company members. The production runs January 23-25, 2015 at the Hopkinton Middle School Auditorium (88 Hayden Rowe St., Hopkinton). Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors and may be purchased online at www.hopartscenter.org or at the door.
Shrek the Musical Jr. is the culmination of a rehearsal and workshop process beginning in November 2014. This production is part of a series of theater workshops dedicated to providing theater education opportunities to area youth ages 5 and above. Choosing a junior adaptation of the show allows the students to work on material that is challenging and engaging while having the show’s length and content edited to best fit the skills and educational needs of ESL’s theater students.
Shrek the Musical Jr. features music by Jeanine Tesori and a book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and is adapted from the full scale hit Broadway show Shrek the Musical. The original Broadway musical was based on the 2001 DreamWorks animated motion picture and the 1990 book by William Steig. Shrek The Musical Jr. Is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI), and all authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
