Major accident backs up traffic on 495 South heading towards Milford during overnight hours

Early Wednesday morning around 1am a crash occurred causing a serious injury to a pedestrian on 495 South, about a mile from Exit 20 in Milford. The crash closed all 3 lanes on the highway for approximately 20 minutes. The left lane was then opened up while the other 2 lanes remained closed for reconstruction of the crash. Massachusetts State Police and emergency services were quick to get to the scene.

**Update on Accident** Police say that 28 year old from Bristol, CT Benjamin MacAskill was the passenger in a car and argued with the 25 year old female driver from Bristol, CT Kimberly Prescott. MacAskill got out of the car and was hit by a tractor trailer. MacAskill died after being flown to Umass memorial medical center in Worcester, The 25 year old female driver was charged with OUI, the Tractor Trailer driver was not charged.
