August 20-23 from 7 PM Friday to 5 AM Monday

No Impacts to Local Roads Below I-90 Bridges and No Median Crossover

What is happening

Alternating Overnight and Daytime I-90 East and Westbound Travel Lane Closures for Bridge Waterproofing and Paving

The primary work this weekend will be to waterproof and pave the westbound bridges over Cordaville Road and Parkerville Road in Southborough and the eastbound bridges over Parkerville Road in Southborough and Flanders Road in Westborough.

This work will require alternating single and double lane closures on I-90 east and westbound during the weekend. Travel will be maintained and lanes reopened as feasible; however, travelers should expect higher than normal congestion.

Single lane closures will be utilized during the day to assist with traffic management.
Double lane closures will be limited to the overnight hours, from 9:00 PM each night to 8:00 AM the next morning, with the exception of Monday morning when all lanes will be open at 5:00 AM.
In addition to waterproofing and paving, MassDOT is continuing with other project related work such as light pole removal in the median, guardrail and median replacement, and stormwater drainage upgrades. These activities will be similar to other MassDOT highway improvement projects.

As with any major construction project, the work is subject to change without notice due to weather and other unforeseen conditions.

There will be no median crossover and no impacts to local roads below the bridges during this weekend.

MassDOT has replaced bridges on I-90 east and westbound over Flanders Road in Westborough and Parkerville Road, Cordaville Road, and Woodland Road in Southborough as part of this project. The replacement of the eight bridges (2 spans per local road) was completed on Monday, August 9. Remaining work entails more typical highway improvement work, which will not require full weekend closures and crossovers, but will require lane closures.

There will be advance signage in place to alert drivers to the I-90 lane closures.

How will this affect me?
If you travel on I-90:

During the work, travel lanes in both directions of I-90 will be reduced between Route 9 in Framingham (Exit 111) and I-495 (Exit 106) in Hopkinton, which will result in higher than normal congestion.

Travel Tips
Plan ahead: The reduction of I-90 travel lanes will result in higher than normal congestion, drivers should plan accordingly.

Drivers traveling in both directions should expect delays.
