On Wednesday March 4, 2020, 6 athletes from the Hopkinton High School Alpine Ski Team competed at the 2020 Alpine Ski State Championship, held at Berkshire East Mountain in Charlemont, MA. The State Championship showcases the top racers in the state of Massachusetts: just 145 racers for girls and 146 racers for boys were invited to compete.
The recent warm weather and rain prior to the race day made the snow conditions less than ideal at Berkshire East. Under tough conditions, Hopkinton racers skied hard and pushed their limits! The conditions ensnared even our experienced racers, leading to a few to land a “DSQ” or “DNF”. Nonetheless, Coach Nancy Schlussel said “Berkshire East held a good Championship with challenging conditions. The Hillers ski team skied hard and took chances. I'm very proud of the team today.”
Results: For Girls, Junior Cate Barry placed 33rd in SL
For Boys,Senior Jack Rodgers placed 34th in GS and 28th in SL - placing 26th overall
Junior Jackson Schlussel placed 38th in GS and 39th in SL - placing 32nd overall
Junior Cameron Hanna placed102nd in GS
