HCAM Station Manager, Jim Cozzens will travel to La Crosse, Wisconsin to bike 30 miles August 11th through August 14th to participate in the “Ride to Cure Diabetes”.

Like millions of people throughout the country, Jim and his family have been personally affected by diabetes. “I'm doing this Ride to Cure Diabetes because I've watched my children prick their fingers thousands of times to check their blood sugar, wake up in the middle of the night to adjust and change their equipment, and have to wait before jumping into life because they were feeling lousy. Having diabetes is every single day, checking blood sugars, counting carbohydrates, taking insulin, and worrying about lows and highs. It is a lot to do, especially for kids.”

According to the American Diabetes Association, 21 million Americans have been diagnosed with diabetes and approximately 1.25 American children and adults have type 1 diabetes. The American Diabetes association also states that approximately 1.4 million Americans are diagnosed with diabetes every year.

“With diabetes there are no days off, and there is no cure – yet. But JDRF is working every day to change that. I want all kids with T1D to not have to carry this burden, and I know my fundraising efforts will help improve the lives of millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.”
