Attention Job Seekers 50 or older!

Are you stuck in a career you don’t want? Do you feel challenged by potential age bias? Is your resume holding you back? A little rusty with your interview skills?

Meet fellow job seekers at our bi-weekly networking group meeting on Thursday, November 10, 9:00-11:00 AM at the Hopkinton Council on Aging at 28 Mayhew Street. Funded by the Massachusetts Council On Aging (MCOA), we focus on identifying issues that get in your way of accomplishing your job searching goals and landing your dream job. The interactive and participative format will help you bring your networking, resume, social media and interview skills to a new level.

The meetings are bi-weekly, and take place on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. There is a new topic each meeting! Come join an experienced Career Coach facilitating a collaborative Networking Group on this journey towards self realization and fulfillment!

Our next meeting topic will be "Creating STARS - Your Success Stories: 'You are a Star!'" The guest speaker will be Doug Peck, CSA.

In this session, we will focus on developing accomplishment statements and success short stories using the STAR Technique: Situation, Task, Action, Result. These quantifiable achievements are the “launch pad” to a great resume, creative elevator speech, effective cover letter and successful interview. There is a nominal and tax deductible investment of $5 to attend. Coffee provided to encourage networking!

Accomplishments/action statements are by far the most critical part of a resume. This is a way for you, the job seeker, to highlight your strongest accomplishments that are most relevant to the career you are pursuing. Creating STARS will help you create a differentiating, results-oriented resume versus a basic accounting of who you worked for, what you did, and timelines.
