No School on Wednesday

Dear Parents/Guardians/Faculty,

I have been in contact with the town's Emergency Management Group who recommended unanimously that I cancel school for tomorrow, Wednesday, January 28th. The Emergency Management Group includes our Police Chief, Fire Chief, DPW, Town Manager, and Director of Operations. This is what I know. The Town Hall, Senior Center, and Library will all be closed tomorrow. The biggest challenge we face is the volume of snow. Given the snow conditions and our winding country roads, the snow banks are getting higher and higher to the point that the banks in some areas are higher than the plow. As a result the roads are becoming narrower. The DPW has been working around the clock to clear the roads, and will need to bring in heavy equipment to move the snow.

While I had planned to hold off on this decision to determine the possibility of a delayed opening for Wednesday, I have learned that it will not be possible to have the roads cleared sufficiently at any time tomorrow morning. We anticipate a regular schedule for Thursday.

Keep safe, everyone,

Cathy
