Presentation On Bullying/Cyberbulling and Internet Safety and Social Networking

On Wednesday, April 4, 2012 beginning at 6:30, Dr. Elizabeth Englander will be presenting a talk, “What All Parents Need to Know” in the Hopkinton Middle School Auditorium. Dr. Englander’s presentation looks closely at bullying and cyberbullying, examining Internet safety and social networking from a parent’s perspective. Dr. Englander founded the Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center (MARC) in 2003, firmly establishing herself as a nationally recognized expert in the area of bullying and cyberbullying, childhood causes of violence, aggression and abuse, childhood cyber behaviors, and child development. Through her continued work with schoolchildren of all ages, teachers and administrators, parents, and community groups, Dr. Englander has conducted and published cutting-edge research on the topic of bullying and cyberbullying, helping to author and pass legislation to prevent violence and bullying in our nation’s schools.

Dr. Englander is the Special Editor for the Cyberbullying issue of the Journal of Social Sciences, the author of dozens of articles in journals and books, and the author of Understanding Violence. She has been a guest expert, writing for the New York Times, and has been cited in The Boston Globe, USA-Today, The Chicago Herald-Tribune, and The Los Angeles Times. She has appeared on both local and national television, including CBS News and National Public Radio.
