The Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) is pleased to announce the addition of Ms. Nathalie Navert to its faculty. In addition to leading classes, Ms. Navert, an Upton resident, will act as the program director for the newly created dance program at the HCA. Ms. Navert debuts with the HCA this summer when she will lead a ballet program for students ages 4-14 which is being hosted at Deane School of Dance in Mendon, MA. The ballet program runs throughout July and August, with additional offerings beginning again in September 2014.

Ms. Navert comes to the HCA with over 25 years of experience, and she has distinguished herself as a caring, inspiring and dedicated instructor who continues to nurture and celebrate her students. She has been a valued faculty member at the nearby Deane School of Dance in Mendon for many years. Additionally, Navert was appointed Interim Director of the Walnut Hill School for the Arts Community Dance Academy and Youth Summer Dance in 2012; she was previously the Assistant Director of Youth Summer Dance since 2004.

While the HCA has offered individual dance classes before, the arrival of Ms. Navert marks the beginning of the HCA’s first dance program. “Nathalie brings a wealth of experience, expertise and energy that we know will propel arts education forward here at the Center,” said Kelly Grill, Executive Director of the HCA. The creation of a structured dance program and the appointment of a dance program director is a milestone for the HCA, where Grill and Artistic Director Kris Waldman have been vigorously working to implement comprehensive arts education and programming opportunities for residents of Hopkinton and the regional community.

In addition to her work with the Walnut Hill School and the Deane School of Dance, Ms. Navert is a graduate of Canada’s National Ballet School’s Teacher Training program and is certified in the Ballet Cecchetti method of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (London, England). Upon Coming to the United States, Ms. Navert worked with Jacqueline Cronsberg on the faculty of the School of Ballet New England, and the Massachusetts Youth Ballet in Hopkinton and Waltham. Ms. Navert was the founder and artistic director of two successful dance schools in Quebec, Canada.

Throughout this summer’s program, students will learn the fundamentals of classical ballet in a nurturing environment under Ms. Navert’s tutelage. This new summer dance program includes 4 levels of ballet instruction: Pre-Ballet/Primary for ages 4-6, running July 7-11; Ballet Levels 1 & 2 for ages 7-9, running July 14-18; Ballet Level 3 for ages 10-12, running July 21-August 21 (with the option to take the intensive for one or both weeks); and Ballet Level 4 for ages 12-14, running August 4-15, also with the option to take the intensive for one or both weeks.
