The Hopkinton Parks and Recreation Department sponsors the after school ski program. We will again be going to Nashoba Valley Ski Area in Westford on Monday afternoons for 6 weeks on Jan. 7, 14, 28, Feb. 4, 11, 25. Lessons will be offered for beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Experienced skiers/riders will be able to participate in a ski/ride only program that does not include lessons.
Buses will leave Hopkins immediately after school and will return to the school at 7:15 to 7:30 PM. Please be prompt picking up your children. All students must ride to and from the ski area on our buses. There will be lessons available or just skiing only.
Cost of the program is as follows:
Lift ticket, lesson, and transportation $260.00 per student***
Lift ticket and transportation (no lesson) $230.00 per student
*** Note:
Lessons start at 5:30 PM. Please make sure your child knows this, they will also be reminded on the bus.
Again this season...
Students who have NEVER skied or snowboarded before will have an mini lesson for the first week upon arrival at the mountain. They should then report to the lesson area again at 5:15 for a full lesson. After the first week, lessons will be at 5:30 only.
Rental Information:
In addition to the above fees, students may rent equipment from the mountain. If you are going to rent skis or snowboards there is a MANDATORY pre-fitting night for these items. Nashoba Valley personnel will be at the Hopkins School Cafeteria on December 3 from 7:30-8:30 PM. If you can’t make this night, you must go to the mountain prior to the first ski day to get fitted. No one can go on the Parks and Recreation bus if they have not been pre-fitted.
IF YOU MISS FITTING NIGHT YOU WILL PAY $5.00 MORE AT THE MOUNTAIN.
Rental Costs: $95.00 for snowboards or skis for all 6 weeks. Rental fees need to be paid in full on fitting night. Also, helmets will be available for purchase during the pre-fit for $40.
Things to remember:
1. Register on line at www.activityreg.com. It’s the preferred method and you can get a receipt on line!!!!!
2. Chaperone sign up is in the “Additional Comments” section when you register on line.
3. Please remember to dress appropriately with waterproof ski pants, ski socks, gloves, and hat. All are required to ski.
4. Students using their own equipment must have them in the school by 2:45 PM. Please bring equipment to the door on the left of the main school doors, in the corridor outside the gym. They can not be brought to school on the regular bus. Parks and Recreation and Nashoba are not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
5. Nashoba does have a ski lodge where snacks are sold. No snacks or drinks allowed on the bus.
6. Students must ride to and from Nashoba on our bus. They can not be picked up at the mountain. NO EXCEPTIONS.
7. Any student who is disruptive on the bus or at the ski slope will be asked to leave the program with no refund.
8. All applications must be received by 12-7-12 to Parks and Recreation.
