Rep. Carolyn Dykema (D-Holliston) announced today that she has joined the Massachusetts Veterans Transportation Coalition (MVTC) tasked with improving veterans’ transportation options.

Almost 400,000 veterans live in Massachusetts and their need for transportation support to access healthcare and other services is increasing as the large population of WWII and Vietnam era Veterans ages. The MVTC is a collaborative effort of stakeholders from state agencies including MassDOT and Elder Affairs, several Regional Transit Authorities and Veterans Service Officers working together to identify, better coordinate and spread information about transportation resources available to Veterans.

“Last session I heard from Veterans across the state that transportation, particularly to access VA healthcare, is one of their most pressing concerns.” said Rep. Dykema. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with these stakeholders to ensure that Veterans have the ability to access the services they have earned.”

A list of available transportation options for veterans across the state has been prepared by the MVTC and is available online at www.mass.gov/eohhs/gov/commissions-and-initiatives/hst/for-veterans.html
