Representative Carolyn Dykema announces the passage of a formal resolution in the House of Representatives designating November 28th and 29th, the weekend after Thanksgiving, as “Small Business Weekend,” recognizing the contribution of small businesses to our local economies, and encouraging residents to look close to home for gifts this holiday season. The formal resolution is in “Recognition of Small Businesses as the Cornerstone of Our Communities and the Massachusetts Economy.”

“Supporting locally-owned businesses strengthens the economic fabric of our communities while bringing neighbors together,” stated Representative Dykema. “The best way to thank our small businesses is to start your holiday shopping on Main Street USA this weekend. Events like the Holiday Stroll in many of our communities remind us of the wonderful goods and services available to us right in our own backyard.”

Representative Dykema sponsored the resolution which garnered the bi-partisan support of 74 House colleagues. The formal resolution was read during the legislative session last week and was delivered to the Massachusetts Retailers’ Association and the National Federation of Independent Business.
