Richard James Bartlett, 71, of Hopkinton, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014. Born in Framingham, he was the son of Arline R. (Newman) and Ernest C. Bartlett. He was the husband of Wendy (Varnum) Bartlett of Hopkinton.

Dick was a Hopkinton Fire Fighter who was one of first two permanent firefighters in Hopkinton and retired as a Lieutenant. He later worked at E.J. Murphy for many years in Woodville. Dick had a passion for photography and was a contributor of many fire scenes to many media outlets. He also worked as a photographer for Norfolk Hunt Club and was the official photographer for the Hopkinton and Ashland Fire Departments, assisting with fire investigations, for weddings and many events. He also had a passion for trains and tractors.

Besides his wife, he leaves behind a sister, Jane and her husband Danny K. Barrett and their son, Danny K. Jr. Cousins Mary Terry and her husband William of Florida, James Bartlett and his wife Ellen of Vermont and Robert Bartlett and his wife Rachel of Hopkinton.

Visitation will take place on Monday, June 23rd from 4-7pm at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral service will be held at 10:00a.m. on Tuesday, June 24th at the funeral home.
