August 30, 2011 - In the aftermath of Hurricane Irene I would like to share some very important safety tips with you regarding downed electrical power lines. Across a large area of our Town we still have secondary roadways blocked with trees down intertwined with the electrical power lines. Many, many houses also have electric service lines leading from the street to house that are either low hanging or down on the ground. Everyone, especially children, need to be safe and maintain vigilance while in the vicinity of electric power lines. Unless told otherwise by public safety or NStar Electric personnel treat all downed electric power lines as if they are live or energized. We recommend against driving vehicles under fallen trees that have electrical power lines attached. Please report any hazardous condition to us via 911. Thank you for your continued support and patience.
