For the 2nd time this summer, the Hopkinton Parks & Recreation Commission issued a message through twitter stating that swimming at Sandy Beach has been closed until further notice. They stated high levels of bacteria in the water is the reason. The tweet stated; "Swimming at Sandy Beach prohibited until further notice. Recent storms have created unsafe levels of bacteria."

Sandy Beach closed for one day on July 26th due to bacteria levels after a string of storms hit the area and strong weekend storms have temporarily closed the beach once again.
