Video Segment: Ice Rink Waterlogs Hayden Rowe

I think it's safe to say ice skating season in Hopkinton has ended. On Wednesday April 1st, the Ice Rink at the Middle School basketball courts melted causing a dam to break and the water leaked out into the streets around dismissal time. It made for a wet ride home as temperatures reached near 50 degrees. The water leaked out of the fence side facing the street. The water was cleared just a couple hours later.

This year was the first year in a long while the Ice rink was put in at the Middle School Basketball courts. it was a successful effort by Hopkinton Parks and Recreation department with the help of many other Hopkinton organizations. The rink was used by many and enjoyed throughout the winter.

I guess on the 1st day of April mother nature decided that winter activites are done.

The Causes of Cancer

rick's picture

“You have cancer” are three words no patient ever wants to hear. The disease, however, is a common one. It is the second leading cause of death in the U.S., surpassed only by heart disease, and claims nearly 600,000 lives every year. The American Cancer Society estimates that more than 1.6 million new cases will be diagnosed this year.

Public surveys show that many people not only lack understanding of what causes cancer, but also have many misperceptions about how the disease develops.
