Dear Families,

Welcome to a new school year! We have been very busy over the summer preparing
for an exciting year ahead. We welcomed 132 new students and their families to our
district, completed curriculum work and provided professional development for
teachers and administrators.

As part of our school district safety plan, we have worked to improve building security
and you will notice some changes to our entry procedures at most of the buildings. At
the High School, the main entry will be the side door facing the bus loop (A2). At the
Middle School, the Main Office was moved to the Guidance area and the entry way
was expanded. You will now be able to drop off materials or forgotten items in the
vestibule between the two sets of doors at each of the buildings (except Center
School). Each school has established drop off procedures and times that the
Principals have communicated through their newsletters. We ask for your cooperation
in helping us to maintain the security of our school buildings by not providing access
to the building to anybody waiting behind you.

On another note, the Commissioner recently released the following fact sheet
regarding the PARCC/MCAS decision. I will keep you updated as we learn more
about this decision.

I wish all of our students a wonderful year and an exciting Back-to-School week!

Sincerely,
Cathy MacLeod, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
