"I am so thankful for all of the people who came out and voted today," said Scordino, who emerged victorious in the race for School Committee. "I am particularly pleased and enthusiastic today about the level of commitment and support that I received."

Scordino received a total of 874 votes to Ritterbusch's 472, earning her the chance to put her campaign pledges into action. When interviewed after the final vote tally, Scordino said she was really excited to meet Hopkinton's new superintendent and wanted to make her feel like the School Committee is invested in her success.

"As far as tasks with the new superintendent, I think that one of the first things we should work on is the strategic plan and make sure that the administration and the board and the superintendent are all on the same page," said Scordino.

The race for the open seat on the School Committee was the only contested race in this year's town election. Other candidates elected included Ben Palleiko and John Mosher to the Board of Selectmen, Geri Holland as Town Clerk, Eric Sonnett to the Parks and Recreation Commission and John Ferrari and Todd Holbrook to the Planning Board.
