(Jan 5th) Tuesday Night the Board of Selectmen further discussed the Fire Chief position. After Chief Ken Clark announced his retirement starting in 2016, the initial search process led to two final candidates, current Framingham Chief Gary Daugherty and Hopkinton "Deputy Fire Chief" Stephen Slaman. After Daugherty dropped his candidacy just prior to the last Selectmen meeting on December 15th, the Selectmen decided to reopen the search process to seek more candidates and made Stephen Slaman interim Fire Chief with full powers starting in 2016.

After criticism about the decision from some residents, Selectmen revisited the decision tonight and decided to allow Stephen Slaman to serve as interim Fire Chief with full powers of the position until March 31st. In the meantime, the Board of Selectmen will still collect resumes and data to see if there are other candidates to consider after the interim period for Chief Slaman expires. The Board of Selectmen plan to revisit the topic sometime in March to decide if there should be a further interview process.
