Hopkinton's Senior Center received a new van today; a 12-seat unit that can accommodate two wheelchairs. The van comes to Hopkinton from the MetroWest Regional Transportation Authority (MWRTA) through a grant from the Department of Transportation's Mobility Assistance Program.

According to a the press release from Town Hall, the $58,000 appropriated by Town Meeting in May will no longer be required.

"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Council on Aging, the MWRTA Board and its Administrator, Ed Carr, and Brian Herr and RJ Dourney for their advocacy as the town's representatives at the MWRTA," said Town Manager Norman Khumalo, who also had words of thanks for Representative Carolyn Dykema and Senator Karen Spilka for their support in obtaining the new van.
