September 21st is the kick-off date for the 8th season of Wake up and Smell the Poetry at the HCAM-TV Studio in Hopkinton. Welcome back to a new season of honoring the art of poetry, story and song and the opportunity to gather, contribute and be inspired by one another.

In just two weeks we look forward to getting started with our first program of the 8th season with guest features Gene McCarthy, Mwalim and Rick Drost.

All three happen to have ties to the academic world and also have been activists in their own unique ways in sharing the art of poetry, music and spoken word in different circles of community. An open mic for poetry, story (sharing written work or storytelling) and song follows the feature program. Please send email reply to participate in open mic as open mic slots are limited. However, when the open mic goes to waiting list, those who still attend can sign on in advance as we try to give all interested an opportunity.

Doors open bright and early at 10:00 a.m, program begins at 10:30. For more on featured artists for the September 21, Click Here.

This event takes place before a live audience of people who come from near and far including poets, writers, musicians, storytellers and others who come simply to listen. The program is filmed and later edited into four weekly half-hour tv programs that air on HCAM TV. These shows can be viewed on the online at www.hcam.tv/wakeup (go to "View Online Now.")

HCAM Studio is located at 77 Main Street Hopkinton MA.

Please send request for seating and open mic and questions to cbperreault@gmail.com

Hope to see you there on September 21st at our first program of the season!
Your host,
Cheryl Perreault
