The Hopkinton School Committee is pleased to announce that the Superintendent Search Screening Committee has identified four outstanding candidates for further consideration by the School Committee for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The fifteen member Screening Committee included representation from the School Committee, the Board of Selectmen, the district’s administrative office, building level administration, teachers, community representatives, and parents.
The Screening Committee considered 27 applicants for this position and interviewed nine applicants. At the conclusion of its work, the Superintendent Search Screening Committee put forth the following slate of candidates (in alphabetical order) to the School Committee for consideration:
Mr. Kevin Carney: Mr. Carney is currently the Superintendent of Schools, Uxbridge, MA.
Dr. Carol Cavanaugh: Dr. Cavanaugh is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Hopkinton, MA.
Mr. Peter Light: Mr. Light is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Franklin, MA.
Mr. Gregory Martineau: Mr. Martineau is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Northboro and Southboro, MA.
The finalists will visit the district between December 4th and December 6th. Mr. Light and Mr. Martineau will visit Hopkinton on December 4th to tour the district, meet with stakeholders, have a public interview with the School Committee, and attend a public forum. Mr. Carney and Dr. Cavanaugh will visit Hopkinton on December 6th to tour the district, meet with stakeholders, have a public interview with the School Committee, and attend a public forum.
Site visits to each candidate’s home district may be conducted between December 8th and December 13th by a team comprised of School Committee members, district staff, and union leadership.
Feedback from participants in each step of the process will be reviewed and considered by the School Committee prior to its decision.
